CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Dreamquest 2004-2005 clock starts ticking on October 15, 2004 for first semester students and January 24, 2005 for second semester students. Dreamquest, a student entrepreneurial contest, will start accepting applications immediately.

The Dreamquest contest was developed to provide students a real-life experience and an opportunity to gain knowledge of entrepreneurship. Teachers serve as advisors to the students as they draft a business model, describe the product or service and develop a plan that will generate revenue.

Dreamquest 2004-2005 is being administered and sponsored by the Community and Technical College System of West Virginia and the Tech Prep initiative. Other sponsors include the West Virginia Department of Education, University of Charleston's Entrepreneurship Center, the Charleston Chamber of Commerce and other chambers.

The top ten plans will move to the final phase of a statewide contest. The students of these plans will have the opportunity to present their business plans to a panel of venture capitalists during the state finals. Cash prizes of up to $5,000 will be awarded to each of the finalists in May of 2005.
