CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The West Virginia Board of Education today learned about new opportunities to support the West Virginia Department of Education's (WVDE) One Voice, One Focus Vision Plan for k-12 education. For example, ZoomWV is the one voice for pre-kindergarten through grade 12 education information in West Virginia, with one key focus: helping stakeholders support all students' achievement! ZoomWV will help drive educational initiatives to improve instruction and student performance in West Virginia.

ZoomWV is the state's single source for accurate, high-quality education information about our schools' and districts' performance. The website provides easy-to-understand reports at the state, regional, county and school level. With ZoomWV, teachers and other personnel at the school, district, regional and state levels will be able to make more informed educational decisions. And, as always, ZoomWV will continue to protect the privacy and confidentiality of West Virginia's students.

ZoomWV will help educators find answers to questions like:

  • How can we target improvement efforts to get maximum impact?
  • Where have we been, where are we now, and what is our future?
  • How is my school performing in relation to other schools in the district and state?
  • What areas do we need to work on to make a difference for our students?
  • Which areas need additional attention?
  • What are we doing right?
  • What are the professional development needs that will help improve instruction and overall school performance?

ZoomWV will help parents understand how the school their child attends is doing, which will help them make the best decisions for their child's education and growth. ZoomWV will help parents stay informed and engaged with their child's school to support success. Additionally, ZoomWV can help parents and other citizens understand more about

  • school improvement;
  • the current performance of the local school;
  • how the school has performed over time; and,
  • the performance of schools across the state.
