From the Office of Special Programs
 WV Gifted Education Guidelines

The new guidelines for gifted education in West Virginia are found online at the West Virginia Department of Education/Office of Special Programs - Gifted Education web site. These guidelines include the information in Reaching and Teaching but are updated with current WV special education policies, which have been revised twice since 2003 when Reaching and Teaching was published. It also includes current national trends in gifted education.

The new guidelines are modeled after the revised NAGC Pre-K--Grade 12 Gifted Program Standards and are arranged as follows:

Contents:

1. Conceptual Foundations

2. Characteristics and Identification

3. Planning and Service Delivery

4. Instructional Strategies

5. Assessment/Program Evaluation

6. Technology Integration
