The WV 21st CCLC competition for grants encourages the establishment and/or expansion of community learning centers that assist learning and development for school-age children and their families during out-of-school time. Formerly administered by the United States Department of Education, the program will now be administered by state educational agencies.
Beginning in the summer of 2003, these grants will fund after-school programs for children in high poverty areas. The grants, which will be no less than $50,000, will be awarded on a competitive basis. Applicants may include schools or school systems, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, public and/or private agencies.
At the Bidders’ Conference, prospective applicants will receive copies of the application package, review process and grantee requirements, as well as examples of effective partnerships and high quality after school programs. Participants will also be able to participate in a question and answer session. The deadline for conference registration is September 30.
Deadline for the submission of the completed application package is December 16, 2002. The grant application package and information flyer is available online at http://wvde.state.wv.us/21st/ Pand for WV 21st CCLC information, please contact Pat Givens at (304) 558-7881 or pgivens@access.k12.wv.us.
