Charleston, W.Va. - The West Virginia Department of Education has declared that the enrollment requirements, including immunizations for attending school in West Virginia are being temporarily waived for children displaced by Hurricane Katrina. A TB Test will be required before enrollment but the child may enter without the evaluation of the TB Test.

Students who will be staying with family members, friends, or others in West Virginia will be given a 30-day provisional enrollment. Normally, students moving to West Virginia from other states are required to show proof of required immunizations before they are allowed to attend school. However, due to the severity of the situation in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi those requirements will be temporarily waived.
