Conference Registration

The KidStrong Conference will be at the Charleston Civic Center on June 21 - 23, 2017. The registration deadline was Friday, May 19, 2017.

Registration Information

There is no registration cost for public school employees working full-time or part-time, including (but not limited to) institutional education, wellness coaches, Head Start nurses, school-based health center staff, and public health specialists working with youth.

Short-term substitutes, community healthcare providers, community organizations and others may attend at a cost of $50.00 which includes continuing education hours, one lunch and two breaks. Make checks payable to West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) and mail to:

Non-Degree Graduate Credit

Three hours of non-degree graduate credit may be obtained through daily conference attendance, the development of a project plan and implementation of a project as defined by the syllabus associated with the project plan and project implementation.
The credit may be used for renewal of your certification and/or for advance salary classification. It may not be used to meet requirements for a graduate degree and is not acceptable for renewal of a teaching or school nurse permit.
The credit can not be used for June 30, 2017 certification renewal. Credit will be awarded in December 2017.
If you are an out-of-state resident not teaching in West Virginia public schools, there is a $100.00 fee for a WVLearns account. A WVLearns account is required for non-degree graduate credit.

Immunization Clinic

The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department will have an Adult Immunization Clinic at the conference. The clinic will be in the main lobby according to this schedule:

Day 1: 8:30am-10:00am
Day 2: 11:15am-12:30pm

If you plan to receive immunizations at the conference, please bring the following documents with you to the clinic:

Your insurance card (or a copy).
A copy of your immunization records from your physician (if available)

Note on Dressing

The regulation of the temperature in a large facility like the Civic Center and adjunct hotels are beyond our control. Please dress in layers so you can adapt to the variable temperature of each conference room and venue used throughout the event.

Parking

Parking is available at the Charleston Town Center for $1.75 per day; however, you may need to walk several blocks to and from your destinations. Please check a map and plan your time accordingly.

Free parking is available at the Civic Center, but space will be limited.

Lodging

Lodging costs will be YOUR responsibility for the 2017 KidStrong Conference. Room blocks at special conference rates have been reserved.

Reservations are entirely YOUR responibility. Rooms are on a first-come, first-served basis. Room blocks are closed; however, rooms may still be available at the hotels listed below:
