Duties and Responsibilities
The Coordinator is responsible for the organization and implementation of CTE programs and initiatives that directly relate to student, instructor and administrator development and empowerment. 
 
1. Provide support services and responsive communication to all instructional and administrative staff across the state within cluster areas. 
2. Assist in the implementation of effective and high-quality Simulated Workplace environments. 
3. Evaluate program effectiveness and determine strategies for continuous improvement within the cluster area. 
4. Analyze programmatic, perception, demographic and labor market data to drive up-to-date programs, while assisting in coordination of NOCTI assessments within the cluster area. 
5. Coordinate the integration of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum within the cluster. 
6. Assist in the evaluation and determination of a program/initiativeís effectiveness via onsite visits and/or surveys. 
7. Synchronize the development of new courses, programs of study and industry certifications that are responsive to changes in the labor market, as well as the interest of students. 
8. Assist in the management of CTE professional development which directly impacts CTE instructors and administrators. 
9. Work directly with the Office of Professional Preparation and teacher education institutions to assure all CTE instructors are in compliance with current teaching certifications and/or CEUs in accordance with Policy 5202. 
10. Assist in the development/revision of WVDE policies and code. 
11. Contribute as a productive member of our CTE team and work directly with local stakeholders to ensure all CTE initiatives are implemented according to policy and producing desired outcomes for growth. 
12. Perform other duties as assigned in conjunction with Department, Division, and Office. 
 

Qualifications
1. Masterís Degree in an Education Related Field. 
2. Experience in Career Technical Education Engineering or Technical field of study preferred. 
3. Effective written and oral presentation skills. 
4. Experienced with current industry certifications and knowledge of future workforce trends. 
5. Experienced with current Engineering and/or IT industry certifications and knowledge of future trends. 
6. Experienced with developing and overseeing community partnerships and projects for local businesses. 
7. Demonstrated ability to schedule, organize and perform multiple assignments with minimum supervision. 
8. Experience with various training methods, including on-the-job coaching, mentorship programs and virtual training and involvement with different projects, like management training and soft-skills development, are also essential. 
9. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to foster collaborative team relationships. 
10. Evidence of skills required to develop, conduct and monitor the delivery of professional development programs for instructors. 
11. Willingness to travel.

Employment Relationship
Department of Education staff are employed upon recommendation of the State Superintendent of Schools and are state employees. No representative or employee of the state is authorized to enter into any employment contract or other agreement. Department staff work under the direction of the State Superintendent of Schools for the general supervision of the free schools in the state and implementing the policies of the board and other necessary tasks as determined by the State Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee. Each employee is at-will and subject to termination by the State Superintendent of Schools at any time, with or without notice, cause or compensation.

The employment relationship between the State Superintendent of Schools and the employee may be terminated by either party. Reasons for termination by the State Superintendent of Schools include, but are not limited to, immorality, incompetency, cruelty, insubordination, intemperance, willful neglect of duty, unsatisfactory performance, the conviction of a felony or a guilty plea or a plea of no contest to a felony charge, misuse of funds or property, violations of law or policies of the state board, lack of need, or a lack or loss of funding.
