Expectations
1. The staff member works effectively as a member of a collaborative interdisciplinary educational team within the Offices of the Division of Teaching and Learning.  
2. The staff member demonstrates expertise in instructional design for adult learners that include the rigorous, relevant, and standards-based instruction and assessment necessary to ensure student success in todayís classroom. 
3. The staff member demonstrates self-control and exhibits an attitude of mutual respect and tolerance. 
4. The staff member is ethical and demonstrates good work habits, such as punctuality and attendance. 
5. The staff member demonstrates self-direction and the ability to use software applications for personal productivity and collaboration. 
6. The staff member demonstrates broad-based knowledge of all facets of personalized learning, instruction, and instructional technology. 
7. The staff member demonstrates effective presentation skills, as well as an understanding of adult learning in general and special education settings.

Duties and Responsibilities
The coordinator will provide leadership in the development of support and resources for West Virginia early and elementary educators, specifically with a focus on technology integration and assistive technology. The coordinator will:  
 
1. Provide assistance in facilitating all components of technology integration for West Virginia educators for the purpose of improved student outcomes. 
2. Maintain a cross-office working relationship with offices in the Division of Teaching and Learning to ensure appropriate integration of services provided to educators and instructional leaders. 
3. Promote a comprehensive approach to technology integration for all students through the development and dissemination of research-based models and strategies that focus on academic and/or social and emotional development to increase student engagement and achievement.  
4. Develop resources focusing on technology integration to be utilized in a professional learning community or other format at the local level to improve teaching effectiveness and student achievement.  
5. Work with other offices and provide leadership when developing plans for professional learning surrounding technology integration.  
6. Work with other offices and divisions to analyze and use data to assist districts and schools in identifying and assisting with technical assistance needs. 
7. Establish strong working relationships with county instructional leaders and share the WVDE vision for technology integration with regard to general and special education in the state. 
8. Maintain records for the purpose of providing up-to-date references and fulfilling established guidelines. 
9. Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Director of the Office of Instructional Technology and the Executive Directors of the Offices of Special Education and Early & Elementary Learning. 
 
EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: 
Department of Education staff are employed upon recommendation of the State Superintendent of Schools and are state employees. No representative or employee of the state is authorized to enter into any employment contract or other agreement. Department staff work under the direction of the State Superintendent of Schools for the general supervision of the free schools in the state and implementing the policies of the board and other necessary tasks as determined by the State Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee. Each employee is ďat-willĒ and subject to termination by the State Superintendent of Schools at any time, with or without notice, cause or compensation. 
 
The employment relationship between the State Superintendent of Schools and the employee may be terminated by either party. Reasons for termination by the State Superintendent of Schools include, but are not limited to, immorality, incompetency, cruelty, insubordination, intemperance, willful neglect of duty, unsatisfactory performance, the conviction of a felony or a guilty plea or a plea of no contest to a felony charge, misuse of funds or property, violations of law or policies of the state board, lack of need, or a lack or loss of funding.

Qualifications
1. Masterís Degree required, with special consideration given to applicants with a Masterís Degree in instructional technology. Certification in multi-subject elementary grades and special education desired. Experience as an early and elementary technology integration specialist and extensive experience providing standards-focused professional learning strongly preferred.  
2. Holds or is eligible for a West Virginia Professional Teaching and/or Administrative Certificate and a minimum of five-years of full time professional teaching and/or administrative experience in public schools preferred.  
3. Demonstrated an effective facilitation and presentation skills with adult audiences.  
4. Experience with providing professional learning and support to WV educators in the area of technology integration. 
5. Knowledge of current research in the field of technology integration for general and special education, and strategies for implementation and support to transfer learning to practice. 
6. Demonstrated expertise in the integration of technology in addition to the use of technology in personal productivity and personalized learning. 
7. Ability to schedule, organize, and perform various assignments while working collaboratively with multiple groups across the state. 
8. Exceptional attendance record and excellent work habits. 
9. Superior communication skills, oral and written, and excellent presentation skills using current technologies. 
10. The staff member must be able to travel.

Salary
$75,508.00-$82,508.00 commensurate with educational level.
