Duties and Responsibilities
NATURE OF WORK: 
Works cooperatively with the Executive Director of Adult Education, Coordinator of High School Equivalency Testing (HSE)/Option Pathway, and the Option Pathway Specialist in the administration, supervision, management, and monitoring of the Option Pathway program. The position will include implementation of all policies and procedures required by the developers/owners/publishers of the high school equivalency assessment as they relate to the Option Pathway, its supplemental programs, and Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy (MCA). 
 
1. Knowledge of West Virginia’s College and Career Readiness Standards and ability to identify key standards and objectives for Option Pathway students. 
2. Knowledge of High School Equivalency (HSE) Testing procedures and policies and how they relate to the Option Pathway. 
3. Knowledge of preparation materials for the HSE test and oversee the implementation of these materials throughout the State for Option Pathway. 
4. Write/update policies and procedures for the Option Pathway program. 
5. Implement all policies and procedures for establishing and operating Option Pathway centers as outlined by WVDE Policy 2444.4 and the Option Pathway Organizational Manual. 
6. Serve as spokesperson for the Option Pathway program by speaking to LEAs interested in adopting the Option Pathway.  
7. Assist with the Option Pathway at Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy. 
8. Oversee the administration of procedures for verifying eligibility, registration, testing, retesting, reporting of scores, issuing of diplomas, and maintenance of records for approved Option Pathway programs in high school and institutional facilities.  
9. Enforce TASC test administration procedures at approved Option Pathway sites through regular security checks, including desktop and on-site monitoring. 
10. Assist with the monitoring of Option Pathway sites for modifications and revisions to guidelines. 
11. Collaborate with the HSE Coordinator to provide technical assistance to Option Pathway teachers and staff. 
12. Collaborate with county and Office of Diversion and Transition Programs (ODTP) administrative staff in establishing new Option Pathway sites throughout the state.  
13. Develop, plan, schedule, and deliver Option Pathway training for county and ODTP teachers, administrators, and staff. 
14. Work with various computer programs, Excel, websites, online registration, and surveys. 
15. Collaborate with the HSE Coordinator to oversee the marketing campaign for adult education. 
16. Work with Office of Adult Education staff on related assignments.  
17. Perform other duties as assigned in conjunction with Department, Division, and Office activities. 
 
EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: 
Department of Education staff are employed upon recommendation of the State Superintendent of Schools and are state employees. No representative or employee of the state is authorized to enter into any employment contract or other agreement. Department staff work under the direction of the State Superintendent of Schools for the general supervision of the free schools in the state and implementing the policies of the board and other necessary tasks as determined by the State Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee. Each employee is “at-will” and subject to termination by the State Superintendent of Schools at any time, with or without notice, cause or compensation. 
 
The employment relationship between the State Superintendent of Schools and the employee may be terminated by either party. Reasons for termination by the State Superintendent of Schools include, but are not limited to, immorality, incompetency, cruelty, insubordination, intemperance, willful neglect of duty, unsatisfactory performance, the conviction of a felony or a guilty plea or a plea of no contest to a felony charge, misuse of funds or property, violations of law or policies of the state board, lack of need, or a lack or loss of funding.

Qualifications
Academic Credentials & Knowledge 
1. A minimum of Master's Degree in education or a related field. 
2. Experience in Options Pathway preferred. 
 
Skills & Experience 
1. Effective oral and written communication skills.  
2. Experienced in developing and presenting training materials for workshops at the regional, state, and/or national level.  
3. Experienced in using computers, data management software, WVEIS, Excel, editing websites, online registrations, webinars, skype meetings, and surveys.  
4. Ability to work effectively as a member of an educational team.  
5. Knowledge of high school graduation requirements and policy 2510. 
6. Knowledge of TASC testing and Option Pathway policy and procedures. 
7. Working knowledge of the administration of the high school equivalency testing program and the Option Pathway program. 
8. Experience in Option Pathway and/or Adult Education. 
9. Ability to travel throughout West Virginia and out-of-state on an occasional basis (including air travel).  
10. Ability to work weekends/evenings as position demands.

Salary
$75,508.00 - $82,508.00 commensurate with educational level.
