Temporary Authorization

Educators who have been hired into a full-time Technology Integration Specialist job position may need to apply for a temporary authorization. This Temporary Authorization permits educators to be identified as a Technology Integration Specialist while they are completing the required professional development to apply for an advanced credential. The Temporary Authorization endorsement for TIS may be issued to one who is working towards completing 40 days or 320 clock hours of professional development relating to technology integration programs offered or approved by the WVDE and who holds a valid WV Professional Certificate. The applicant must be officially recommended for the credential by the employing superintendent. The Temporary Authorization is valid for one school year and will expire on June 30.

If an educator's job title is Librarian, Special Education Teacher, Title I Teacher (not a full-time TIS), or Career Technical Education Teacher, then they may not need to apply for the temporary authorization while completing the cohort professional development program.
