In November, 2005, West Virginia became the second state in the nation to sign an agreement and announce a joint effort with the Partnership for 21st Century Skills.  West Virginia's 21st Century initiative provides a powerful statewide vision to ensure that every child in West Virginia succeeds as a citizen, worker and leader in the 21st Century.

West Virginia Code 18-2E-7 was amended in 2007 to provide for “21st Century instruction and learning in all public schools.”  The21st Century Tools for 21st Century Schools Initiatives support this legislation by providing high quality technology tools, application software, engaging classroom curriculum / technology resources, relevant and job-embedded professional development, and infrastructure to support the initiative.
