Intel® Teach

The focus of Intel® Teach has shifted from face-to-face training sessions to a series of online Intel Elements courses. Facilitated versions of these courses are being offered for non-degree graduate credit in WVLearns, or may be taken for certificate renewal credit for Technology Integration Specialists and anyone needing continuing education hours.

Courses available as of Spring 2012 are:

• Thinking Critically with Data (to prepare students to think critically in our information-rich world. 
• Assessment in 21st Century Classrooms (to learn to plan, develop, and manage student-centered assessment)
• Collaboration in the Digital Classroom (to learn to plan and manage student collaboration activities)

• Educational leadership in the 21st Century (a course for administrators to explore school leadership in our students' 21st century world)
• Blended delivery (under development for Summer 2012 release)
  

WV Tools for Schools

The WV Tools for Schools contracts with IBM and Pomeroy include numerous offerings for professional development including full and half day options that are site based or district based. Topics range from general technology integration to specific software products and the integration of technology tools such as electronic white boards. For more details contact your designated WVDE Office of Technology representative or an IBM or Pomeroy sales representative. WV Virtual School

The WV Virtual School offers professional development for middle- and high school Spanish facilitators in August each year. Facilitators are provided a variety of materials and resources to help them assist the online teacher in the management of the online course. WVVS will also be offering a week-long, hands-on workshop for teachers on the effective utilization of WVDE's eLearning platform, WVLearns, in face-to-face and distance learning classrooms.
