Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) in West Virginia

Round 6 Information (08-09 School Year)

Over a 3-year period, the goal of this model is to achieve the following:
• Help middle and high school teachers integrate technology into their teaching practice by providing the personnel, resources, and access necessary to implement TMS.
• Provide the necessary personnel, resources, access, professional development, and student instruction to produce technologically literate students by the eighth grade, to continue to assist students in the acquisition and application of technology skills in the high school environment, and to have a significant impact on the academic achievement of the school's student population.
• Study the TMS model on a statewide basis as it is implemented in the middle and high school setting.

Based on research and reflecting the recommendations of the West Virginia State Technology Plan, the program’s focus is to have a Technology Integration Specialist (TIS) in middle and high school(s) who will provide and/or coordinate appropriate professional development activities for all teachers and administrators in the included school(s). Only TMS Applications for middle and high schools were accepted.

The Dept. of Education-Office of Technology received twenty applications. The review committee selected the following ten applicants to fund.
