Incorporating Emerging Content

The
framework established by the Partnership for 21st Century Learning
guided much of the work as we revised the WV Content Standards and
Objectives. The classrooms teachers who revised
the content standards and objectives in all content areas participated in
professional development that would increase their understanding of global
awareness; financial, economic and business literacy; civic literacy; and
personal health and wellness. This
emerging 21st century content was integrated into the content
standards and objectives when appropriate.
Furthermore, WVDE has been working with classroom teachers to design
instructional resources that promote student understanding of the emerging
contents at all grade levels in all subjects.
