A Poem by Danielle Smith
Buffalo High School, Putnam County
Listen to the poem (mp3)
Children laughing, playing, climbing trees
Their biggest worries were skinned knees
Cops and robbers was a game they played
Good would always win, don't be afraid
Parents taught right from wrong
Not how to hit out of a bong
Where have all the role models gone
Barney, Andy, and John
Texting, facebook, violent video games
Are this generations biggest shames
Someone brings a gun, shots echo throughout
Are we keeping evil in or keeping evil out
Metal detectors, fences all around
Children in classrooms all locked down
Armed guards, always vigilant
Is this how we protect the innocent
