| Examining Accommodations in West Virginia (2008-2009) | ||

| This study is the first in a multi-year review of the impact of assessment accommodations on the performance of students with disabilities (SWDs) that is being conducted by the WVDE Office of Assessment, Accountability, and Research (OAAR). The study has two primary purposes: (a) to provide an account of the extent to which various assessment accommodations are recommended for SWDs in West Virginia; and (b) to determine the extent to which accommodation recommendations and student achievement for SWDs vary according to key demographic variables including primary special education exceptionality, gender, race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and geographic location during the 2008-2009 academic year. |
| Examining the Effectiveness of Improvement Efforts in West Virginia Title I Schools Identified for Corrective Action or Restructuring | ||

| This study examines the impact of the programs, initiatives, and services implemented in 12 Title I schools identified for corrective action or restructuring based on AYP indicators. The study included (a) a comparison of five years of WESTEST mathematics and reading/language arts data for the experimental (Title I) and control schools; (b) the analysis of results of on-site observations of the experimental schools to determine the level of implementation of the funded programs, initiatives, and services; and (c) the analysis of data obtained during face-to-face interviews with 120 participants regarding various aspects of those interventions. |
| Exploratory Research Brief on Student Achievement and Referral Rates in Response to Intervention Demonstration Sites | ||

| The purpose of this examination was twofold: (a) to determine the initial impact of the Response to Intervention (RTI) program on the WESTEST 2 Reading/Language Arts achievement of students enrolled in RTI demonstration schools; and (b) to examine the referral rates for RTI demonstration schools relative to K-5 comparison districts. |
| West Virginia PSAT 10th Grade Pilot Report | ||

| This report provides the 2008 10th grade PSAT pilot results for county by county and AP course by AP course. This report was used by the West Virginia Department of Education to determine the feasibility of use and subsequently, the feasibility of continued funding of the 10th grade PSAT by for the next year. |
