Declaration of Commitment
The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) joined with West Virginia’s constitutional officers to launch a project called the Declaration of Commitment. The project encourages West Virginians to recommit to civic literacy, volunteerism and patriotism. The project was developed as part of the WVDE’s 9/11 recognition event honoring those who lost their lives in the tragedy a decade ago. Throughout the 2011 – 2012 school year, teachers, students and parents across the state are being asked to post on the Declaration of Commitment. Proud West Virginians all, we, the undersigned do hereby pledge our hearts, minds and Mountaineer spirit to a renewed sense of patriotism, civic pride and volunteerism. In addition, we issue a challenge to proud Americans everywhere to join us in our efforts to rekindle the fire of patriotism and civic duty in cities, towns and states across the United States. |
