Early Childhood E-Learning Opportunities
Early childhood educators working in West Virginia Universal Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms now have the opportunity to participate in e-Learning courses specifically designed for early childhood. Courses include Child Development, Early Childhood Special Needs Inclusion, Creating a Language Rich Environment, Early Childhood Curriculum, Early Childhood Assessment, and Family and Community Engagement.

WVDE e-Learning for West Virginia Educators Winter 2017 Course Schedule
- Class Dates: Feb 08, 2017 to Mar 28, 2017
- Registration Dates: Jan 09, 2017 to Feb 07, 2017

- Access to WVLearns will be closed from December 28, 2016-January 2, 2017.
- All current WVLearns logins/usernames and passwords will be active and are to be used through December 27, 2016.
- A new WVLearns account registration system will be in established on January 3, 2017.
On January 3, 2017, individuals who have been assigned a k12.wv.us email address will login to WVLearns with their complete k12.wv.us email address as their user name. Those individuals who have been assigned a k12.wv.us email address will use their Office 365 password as their WVLearns password. Full time employees from Kanawha County, Jackson County and other counties using county e-mail addresses have been provided k12.wv.us email accounts. If you are a full-time public school employee and you are unaware of your k12.wv.us email address and/or your Office 365 password, then you must contact your county technology coordinator for this information, immediately.
If you are not a full-time public school employee in West Virginia, then a new WVLearns account must be created. Effective, December 28, 2016, your current WVLearns account, user name and password will no longer exist. You will need to complete the following registration form to be approved for a new account (click here). You must complete the registration form for a new account to be initiated. All registration information for new accounts will be verified. New accounts will be processed beginning February 1, 2017. You will receive information regarding your new account via email on or after February 1, 2017. You may register for a Winter 2017 WVLearns course after you have completed instructions provided in the new account email.
Due to the establishment of the new WVLearns registration system, there will be ONE Winter-Spring 2017 session.
Registration for Winter-Spring 2017 WVLearns eLearning for Educator courses will begin January 9, 2017 and end February 7, 2017. Courses will begin February 8, 2017 and end March 28, 2017. There is a maximum enrollment of 30 participants per course section. When the enrollment limit for a course section has been met, the course will be closed to further participant registration. We do plan on running multiple course sections for many courses. Participants may register for a maximum 2 eLearning courses for the Winter-Spring 2017 session.
Pre-K Lead Teachers
Early Childhood Pre-K Lead Teachers may begin registering for the Winter 2017 early childhood lead teacher courses on January 9, 2017 via the following website: http://wvlearns.k12.wv.us. Courses will begin February 8, 2017 and end on March 28, 2017.
Application for Community Program Authorization (Form 50) – use this form when applying for the permanent, the initial, or to renew certification to teach in a partnership between a local school system and a community PK program. This credential is required when the teacher does not hold a valid WV Professional Teaching Certificate endorsed for PK. Pre-K and Kindergarten Assistant Teachers
NOTICE: To complete ECCAT course assignments, there is a requirement that all ECCAT course participants be in a pre-k or kindergarten classroom for a minimum of 4 hours per week for each of the 15 weeks the ECCAT course is in session.
Pre-K and Kindergarten Teacher Assistants may begin registering for the Winter-Spring 2017 early childhood courses on January 9, 2017 via self-registration on WVLearns at http://wvlearns.k12.wv.us. ECCAT Courses will begin February 8, 2017 and end May 16, 2017.
Application for Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher Authorization (Form 41) – use this form when applying for the permanent, the initial, or to renew the authorization for Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher (Pre-K – K).
