License Plate Design Contest Lets Students’ Character Shine

Charleston, W.Va. - Students can now show the rest of the country that character counts in West Virginia. The West Virginia Board of Education and the West Virginia Department of Education are seeking a design for a character education and sportsmanship license plate for West Virginia.  

The contest is open to all students K-12. A panel of educators will judge the entries. The winner will be announced during the first week of the 2005-2006 school year.  

When developing their designs, students should follow the following criteria:  

• Must address character education traits and sportsmanship; • Must fit 11 ˝ x 5 ˝ design attached http://wvde.state.wv.us/tt/2005/charedu.pdf • Must leave one inch completely around design;  

Entries must be postmarked by May 31, 2005 and should be mailed in a large envelope so designs are not folded.
