We The People Institute Slated For July 24

Charleston, W.Va. - The West Virginia We the People Summer Institute will offer a unique opportunity for social studies teachers in West Virginia. The Institute will be an in-depth study of the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The Institute will be held July 24 – 30, 2005 at the Pastoral Center in Charleston, West Virginia.
Participants should be high school and/or middle school teachers of social studies. All participants will receive a set of student textbooks for their classroom as well as reference books for teachers. There is no cost to teachers and food and lodging are provided.
Scholars will address constitutional issues every morning of the Institute and mentor teachers will work with participants on integrating civics, government, and law-related issues into their curriculum based on the West Virginia Content Standards and Objectives for social studies.
The Institute is funded by the Center for Civic Education with additional grants from the West Virginia Humanities Council and the Department of Education.
