2004 Educational Personnel Data Report Released

April 18, 2005

Charleston, W.Va. – West Virginia educational trends are highlighted in a recent report released by the West Virginia Department of Education.

At its April 14, 2005 meeting, the West Virginia Board of Education reviewed and approved for release the 2004 Educational Personnel Data Report. The West Virginia Department of Education’s Office of Professional Preparation compiles the data through a collaborative effort with various offices at the WVDE, county school systems and institutions of higher education. Divided into four sections, the data report provides demographic data about the state’s students and educators; addresses the shifting supply and demand for educators within the state; provides data about the effectiveness of the state’s 19 educational personnel preparation programs; and addresses emergent educational personnel needs related to certification and licensure.

Interested parties are encouraged to use the data report to make informed decisions in the development of educational policies and programs, as well as to respond to personnel demands at the local level.

Inquires concerning the data report should be addressed to Dr. Karen Huffman, Executive Director, or Serena Starcher, Coordinator, Office of Professional Preparation at khuffman@access.k12.wv.us or slstarch@access.k12.wv.us, respectively, or by telephone at (304) 558-2703.
