CHARLESTON, W.Va. - A Cabell County student will earn her college diploma before her high school diploma when she graduates from Marshall Community and Technical College this week. Nikki Chapman, a senior at Cabell County Career and Technical Center and Cabell Midland High School (CMHS), will receive her associate’s degree in interior design from Marshall Community and Technical College on May 7. She will graduate from high school next month.
Chapman is the first high school student in West Virginia to achieve his/her degree under the provisions set forth in Senate Bill 300 (1996), which directs joint cooperation between public and higher education.
During her high school career, Chapman served as the president of VICA/Skills USA and FHA, and was varsity cheerleader at CMHS.
Chapman will receive her degree during a graduation ceremony scheduled for Friday, May 7, at 7 p.m. in the Don Morris Room of the Marshall Student Center.
