Posted: January 21, 2004
Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Board of Education placed Policy 2417 out on public comment during its January meeting. Revisions to Policy 2417 are being recommended so that the first annual standards-based assessment of Limited English Proficiency students can be implemented statewide. In order to promote successful achievement results, appropriate instructional and programmatic support requirements are also being recommended. In addition, based on teacher feedback, a committee has reviewed the standards and indicators, previously approved under Policy 2417, and has recommended minor revisions.
Policy 2417 will remain out on comment for 30 days. School administrators and parents are encouraged to review the document and make suggestions on improving the policy. You can find Policy 2417 by logging onto http://wvde.state.wv.us/policies/
