Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. is offering a fully funded, two-week cultural/history study program for 50 high school teachers. Selected from the eight states where Toyota operates major facilities, teachers will have the opportunity to travel to Japan to explore the country’s education, culture, environment and technology, and how these affect industry and society of today’s Japan.
“This is such a wonderful opportunity for any high school teacher and I encourage teachers from around the state to apply for this learning experience,” said State Superintendent of Schools David Stewart. “International study is an excellent avenue for teachers to expand their curriculum and enhance their teaching expertise.”
Along with West Virginia, teachers from California, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Texas and Alabama are invited to apply for this professional development opportunity.
The deadline for applications is January 12, 2004. Interested teachers may apply online at www.iie.org/programs/toyota. Materials and application packets may also be requested by visiting the Toyota International Teacher Program website or by calling the Institute at 1-877-TEACH-JP (877-832-2457).
