The State Auditor’s Office awarded the Department a plaque for Outstanding Improvement in the Payment Process. The WVDE improved its payment process by nearly 43 percent through a series of changes in the payment process implemented over the past year.
“I want to commend everyone in the Fiscal Office for implementing these changes and I want to thank the Department for adapting to the new procedures,” said State Schools Superintendent David Stewart.
According Phillip Uy, Coordinator for the WVDE Fiscal Office, stricter accounting practices were put into place, as well as the use of automated forms, which helped streamline the process making it more efficient.
