CHARLESTON, W.Va - The West Virginia Board of Education has placed Policy 4336 out on public comment. The revised policy includes information regarding the student code of conduct, employee code of conduct, and the qualifications of professional employees transporting students in a county owned vehicle with a seating capacity of 10 or less.
“It is our responsibility to get children to school safely,” said Board President Howard Persinger. “Policy 4336 not only deals with safety issues but also bullying concerns, a topic that is very important to the entire Board,” added Persinger.
The West Virginia Board of Education currently supports Policy 4373: Student Code of Conduct. This policy ensures that every student in every public school in West Virginia is protected from bullying, intimidation and harassment. It demands that districts provide an orderly and safe environment that is conducive to learning and that schools respond immediately and consistently to incidents of harassment, intimidation, bullying, substance abuse and/or violence.
Policy 4336 will remain out on comment for 30 days. School administrators and parents are encouraged to review the document and make suggestions on improving the policy. You can find Policy 4336 by logging onto http://wvde.state.wv.us/policies/
