West Virginia Teachers Take Center Stage Posted: June 18, 2003 Charleston, W. Va. – It is showtime for West Virginia teachers. Educators now have the opportunity to earn a degree in theatre education for grades pre-K through adult from West Virginia State College. WV State College is the first state-supported institution to offer a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in theatre. “This is a wonderful opportunity for teachers receiving a degree from a public higher-education institution,” said West Virginia Department of Education Arts Coordinator Julia Lee. “This new offering really fills a gap and young students across the state are sure to benefit.” A person completing the degree work would be able to teach theatre on the high school level or as a resource specialist. The major requires completion of 35 semester hours. |
