WV Board of Education Welcomes Newest Member

CHARLESTON, W.Va. Delores W. Cook joins the West Virginia Board of Education. Ms. Cook took the oath of office during the November State Board meeting in Gilmer County, West Virginia.

Ms. Cook, a Boone County resident, is a retired teacher with 30 years of service in elementary and basic education. She was also a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1989-1994.  

I am honored to serve on the State Board of Education, said Cook. I have dedicated my life to education in the state and this position is a wonderful opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of West Virginia students.  

Currently, Ms. Cook is a life member VFW Ladies Auxiliary #5578 in Madison, WV; a pianist and an adult Sunday school teacher at Brush Creek Presbyterian Church in Ridgeview, West Virginia; a life member of the WVEA and NEA; and serves on the Boone-Madison Public Library Board of Directors.  

Ms. Cooks term on the West Virginia Board of Education runs through 2010.
