WV Board of Education Welcomes Newest Member Posted: November 17, 2002 CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Delores W. Cook joins the West Virginia Board of Education. Ms. Cook took the oath of office during the November State Board meeting in Gilmer County, West Virginia.
Ms. Cook, a Boone County resident, is a retired teacher with 30 years of service in elementary and basic education. She was also a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1989-1994. “I am honored to serve on the State Board of Education,” said Cook. “I have dedicated my life to education in the state and this position is a wonderful opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of West Virginia students.” Currently, Ms. Cook is a life member VFW Ladies Auxiliary #5578 in Madison, WV; a pianist and an adult Sunday school teacher at Brush Creek Presbyterian Church in Ridgeview, West Virginia; a life member of the WVEA and NEA; and serves on the Boone-Madison Public Library Board of Directors. Ms. Cook’s term on the West Virginia Board of Education runs through 2010. |
