WV Department of Education Employee Resigns

Posted: November 01, 2002
Charleston, W.Va. Today, State Schools Superintendent David Stewart accepted the resignation of Assistant State Schools Superintendent G.A. McClung.

McClung is connected to a West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) investigation into how funds were spent while repairing flood-damaged schools in McDowell and Wyoming counties. He supervised spending following the 2001 summer floods.

The Department's internal investigation continues. Meanwhile, the WVDE is fully cooperating with a second probe lead by the Legislature's Commission on Special Investigations.
