School Counselors Workshop Scheduled for October 7

The West Virginia Department of Education’s Office of Student Services and Assessment, in cooperation with RESA VII and our state GEAR-UP programs, has scheduled a one-day workshop for counselors. This workshop is scheduled for October 7, 2002 at Canaan Valley Resort in Davis, WV. Two nationally recognized presenters, Patricia Martin and Carol Dahir, will present current information and practical strategies as West Virginia counselors prepare to assume a vital role in response to the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
“What School Counselors Need to Know and Do to Accelerate School Success for All Students” is the topic of the presentation by Patricia Martin, formerly with The College Board and currently with Education Trust, Inc. “Achievement, Advocacy and Accountability: Implementing the National Standards for School Counseling Programs” is the subject of the presentation by Carol Dahir, co-author of the ASCA National Standards for School Counseling, and professor in the counselor education program at New York Institute of Technology.
