State Superintendent to Deliver State of the Schools Address July 24 -- Former Governor Gaston Caperton will Present 1st Annual Education Technology Awards July 25 Posted: July 16, 2002 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 24

State Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Stewart will deliver the annual State of the Schools address to kick off the 27th annual Technical and Adult Education Conference which runs through Friday, July 26. Stewart will discuss the current state of education and the accomplishments of the past school year. Awards to be presented during this session include the Leader of Learning Award to Greenbrier County Superintendent Steve Baldwin, and the “Making It Happen” in Educational Technology Award. The Leader of Learning Award recognizes an individual whose leadership has resulted in the definition and delivery of high quality educational programs and services for West Virginia students. “Making It Happen” is a national award that recognizes individuals for their commitment and innovation in educational technology. 12:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25 Charleston Civic Center North Hall Former Gov. Gaston Caperton will present the 1st annual Caperton Educational Technology Awards to two individuals selected for their outstanding utilization and/or leadership in K-12 educational technology. The $5000 awards will go to one student (or team) and one educator, administrator, or parent (or team). |
