CHARLESTON, W.Va. – On Monday, the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) opened registration for the 2016 KidStrong Conference, the largest statewide conference for educator professional development.
The WVDE, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR), the West Virginia Immunization Network, WV After School Network and Marshall University have partnered together once again to provide educational supports and promote student health statewide. This year’s event is expected to be the largest yet, with more than 1,000 people expected to attend.
KidStrong 2016 will take place on June 21-23 at the Charleston Civic Center. The three-day conference will include speakers such as former Columbine High School Principal Frank DeAngelis, Alliance for a Healthier Generation CEO Howell Wechsler, and Children’s Dental Health Project Communications Director Matt Jacob. Other speakers will be announced closer to the day of the event.
The conference is geared for teachers in WV public and institutional schools, school administrators, school nurses, school-based health center staff and other health professionals, such as school counselors. Register for the conference at http://wvde.state.wv.us/forms/2016/kidstrong.
