CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The West Virginia Board of Education (WVBE) is looking to the public for input on its School District Governance and Administration Commission Report. The WVBE established the Commission on School District Governance and Administration in March 2013 following a request from Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin to formally undertake a study of the governance of the 55 county school systems.

The members of the commission, who include school officials and business representatives, focused on balancing the school system governance model to increase student achievement. Through several short- and long-term strategies, the report recommends restructuring business and management functions on a regional level while maintaining and improving local input into instruction.
