Scheduled for October 18, the annual conference is sponsored by the Education Alliance and the Office of Education First at the West Virginia Department of Education. Local School Improvement Council (LSIC) members, teachers, parents, administrators, students, business leaders and others interested in school improvement are invited to attend the conference.
The conference will feature some of the most successful ideas from schools and communities who have successfully initiated school improvement efforts. These examples will be featured throughout the conference. Participants can select sessions that meet their specific needs. Topics will include:
LSIC Team Building and Effective Meetings,
Drafting an Effective School Improvement Plan,
Parent and Family Involvement Strategies,
Opportunities in Grant Writing,
After School and Summer Programs for all Levels,
Safe School Initiatives,
Continuous School Improvement,
Communication and Public Relations,
Integration of Character Education,
Successful Technology Integration,
Best Practices of Award Winning Schools, and
A Look at Whats Ahead with Virtual Schools.
Registration and a $25 per person registration fee is due by October 13. The first 100 schools that register for the conference will receive a $100 grant.
