CATS Distance Learning Programs to Be Offered Posted: September 11, 2000 The West Virginia Department of Education has announced that two CATS (Coordinated and Thematic Science) distance learning programs will be offered this fall. CATS Biology Connections I will be taught by web-based instructors, Dr. H. Andrew Cook and Dr. Edward Keller. The four-module program will begin September 13 and conclude the week of December 4. CATS Earth Science Connections I will be taught by Dr. Bob Behling, Dr. John Renton and Dr. Deb Hemler. The program features a series of broadcasts coupled with a two-day, hands-on field trip to explore the basic principles and concepts of physical geology. Project CATS is a multi-year, multi-phase comprehensive teacher enhancement program targeted to improve content knowledge and pedagogical skills of teachers to enable them to effectively implement the new West Virginia Science Curriculum Framework (WVSCF). |
