CATS Distance Learning Programs to Be Offered

The West Virginia Department of Education has announced that two CATS (Coordinated and Thematic Science) distance learning programs will be offered this fall.  

CATS Biology Connections I will be taught by web-based instructors, Dr. H. Andrew Cook and Dr. Edward Keller. The four-module program will begin September 13 and conclude the week of December 4.

CATS Earth Science Connections I will be taught by Dr. Bob Behling, Dr. John Renton and Dr. Deb Hemler. The program features a series of broadcasts coupled with a two-day, hands-on field trip to explore the basic principles and concepts of physical geology.

Project CATS is a multi-year, multi-phase comprehensive teacher enhancement program targeted to improve content knowledge and pedagogical skills of teachers to enable them to effectively implement the new West Virginia Science Curriculum Framework (WVSCF).
