CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Department of Education is accepting applications for competitive grants for West Virginia’s Learn and Serve Program thanks to funding made available by the Corporation for National and Community Service working in cooperation with the West Virginia Commission for National and Community Service.
The WVDE anticipates awarding several one-year grants to public schools serving students in grades K-12. The amount of the grants will be approximately $5,000 for the 2009-2010 school year.
The WVDE will conduct a competitive review process next spring, with funding expected to begin in September 2009.
The deadline for applications is Friday, March 6, 2009, at 3 p.m. Applicants should include the original application plus six copies.
