CHARLESTON, W.Va. - A Wood County technology integration specialist is one of 15 educators to be named the Verizon Foundation Thinkfinity Field Trainer of the Year for 2006.

Gilda Haddox, one of two county technology integration specialists, received the recognition for training more than 50 educators and receiving an average evaluation score of 4.5 out of 5.0. She also was named Thinkfinity Field Trainer of the Month in February 2006. Sheila Bennett of Troy University in Alabama was named the overall National Field Trainer of the Year.

Thinkfinity, formerly known as MarcoPolo, provides high quality, standards-based Internet content and professional development to K-12 teachers and students throughout the United States. Since 2000, the West Virginia Department of Education has used the program to provide professional development for teachers across the state to help them use Internet resources in the classroom with their students.

Thinkfinity field trainers train other trainers and teachers. They are typically tech-savvy educational leaders at all levels of the education hierarchy: building, district, region, state or organization.
