School System Leadership Teams Kick Off Fall Conference November 14th

The West Virginia Department of Education will host its fall School System Leadership Team Conference this week at the Charleston Civic Center. The conference starts Monday, November 14th and will run through Wednesday November 16th. Transforming and Aligning the System for Student Success is the theme for the fall conference.  

Included in the three day agenda are numerous outstanding national and state speakers who will be a part of the general sessions, clinics and practitioner breakout sessions. Dr. Thomas Houlihan, Executive Director for the Council of Chief State Schools Officers will deliver the keynote address during Monday’s opening general session. Tuesday’s general session will include a keynote address from Dr. Roland Barth, author and lecturer from Harvard University. The conference will conclude with two keynote addresses. The morning address will feature author and lecturer John G. Miller, author of, QBQ! The Question Behind the Question and Personal Accountability. The afternoon address will be delivered by MSNBC columnist Jeanette Walls, author of The Glass Castle.  

As with past conference, team meetings will be arranged for team reflection, assessment and planning. Special attention will be given to building improvement capacity within the schools and each district has been asked to bring at least one elementary, one middle and one high school principal to the conference.
