NBPTS certification is significant because teachers not only have to prove they know their subject matter, but they must also provide evidence they know how to teach their subjects to students most effectively. This is a rigorous performance-based assessment that requires almost a year to complete. Teachers who receive the national certification are clearly among America’s best at their profession.
