21st century teachers have many opportunities to become leaders within
and outside the classroom. Some examples of West Virginia teachers in leadership roles are National Board Certified Teachers and their cohort groups, professional development school steering committees, teachers serving as adjunct professors in our state higher education institutions, as well as teachers serving on county and statewide committees. Mentor teachers
play an important role in making these opportunities available to novice teachers
and assisting them in effective time management strategies in order to allow for participation in these leadership roles.
