Qualifications: 
1. Degree in Social Work 
2. Certification as a WV  
Licensed Graduate Social  
Worker (LGSW) 
3. Experience in a school  
setting preferred. 
4. Experience with children  
required. 
5. Demonstrate knowledge of  
school, federal, and state  
laws related to position of  
social worker. 
6. Ability to interpret and  
communicate information  
obtained from the assessment  
process. 
7. Excellent interpersonal and  
intrapersonal skills required,  
as well as superior oral and  
written communication skills. 
 
Reports to: Principal and  
Directors 
 
Location: Itinerant 
 
Job Goal: To efficiently and  
expeditiously connect  
families, schools, students,  
and resources for the ultimate  
benefit of students. 
 
Term of Employment: 205 Days.  
Salary to be established by  
the Board of Education. 
 
Evaluation: Performance of  
this job will be evaluated in  
accordance with the provisions  
of the Board's policy on  
Evaluation of Professional  
Personnel. 
 
Social Worker Essential Job  
Functions: 
1. Work closely with the  
school principal, federal  
programs and special education  
to collaborate with with  
district and school personnel  
to offer a flexible  
environment for high needs  
students in the school  
building. 
2. Assist schools and families  
with concerns for reources,  
attendance improvement,  
medical and social services  
needs, parent education, etc. 
3. Work cooperatively with the  
county Attendance Director and  
other county staff to assist  
those families and students  
experiencing attendance  
difficulties. 
4. Maintain a resource file of  
agencies, organizations, and  
individuals who can assist  
students and families. 
5. Arrange transportation if  
needed for families to come to  
school for parent-teacher  
conferences and to participate  
in other parent activities. 
6. Provide behavioral  
interventions to the  
identified students in order  
to enhance and foster optimal  
functioning and interactions  
in the school, home, and  
community. 
7. Work collaboratively with  
school staff, treatment team  
members, individuals and the  
family in the provision of  
services to meet the goals. 
8. Coordinates joint  
conferences with  
parents/school personnel to  
integrate new and returning  
students who may be  
experiencing social problems. 
9. Participate in  
collaborative Professional  
Development. 
10. Interact with students to  
assess the areas in which they  
might need assistance. 
11. Communicate with parents,  
teachers and administrators to  
provide a full view of the  
issues facing an individual  
student, group, or entire  
district. 
12. Maintain case files and  
reports to track student  
problems and progress and to  
recognize patterns in  
behavior. 
13. Once issues or behavior  
problems have been identified,  
assist in remediation by  
providing services, treatment  
plans or workshops. 
14. Assist in maintaining  
operational records and  
documentation. 
15. Maintain professional work  
habits. 
16. Maintain and upgrade  
professional skills. 
17. Establish and maintain and  
effective working climate. 
18. Attend regional and state  
meetings, programs, and  
conferences to keep current  
with Social Worker practices. 
19. Establish good employee  
and public relations. 
20. Treat all information  
received confidentially. 
21. Other duties as assigned  
by supervisor. 
 
Physical Demands: 
While performing the duties of  
this job, the employee is  
regularly required to talk or  
hear. The employee is  
frequently required to stand,  
walk, sit, use hands, and  
reach with hands and arms. The  
employee is occasionally  
required to stoop, crouch,  
climb, or kneel. The employee  
must frequently lift and/or  
move up to 50 pounds. Specific  
vision abilities required by  
this job include close vision  
depth perception and ability  
to focus.
