A professional who engaged in high school graduation assistance activities including but not limited to working with students, school faculty and staff, parents, and guardians regarding high school graduation completion.
Possesses the minimum of a bachelor’s degree in one of the required certifications.
WV Teaching Certificate, School Social Work, or School Counselor for grades 6-12
Successful experiences working with secondary at-risk students preferred;
At least three years’ experience in one or a combination of the certification areas required in secondary schools preferred;
Working knowledge of appropriate strategies for reducing behaviors that put students at risk of not graduating from high school;
Ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults;
Ability to analyze, develop, implement, and track intervention plans and strategies;
Knowledge of and the ability to analyze data;
An understanding of the multiplicity of social services available in the community to support students at risk of not graduating;
Knowledge of alternative education opportunities (e.g. Credit Recovery, Virtual Schools)
Good Evaluations and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers, and/or supervisors;
A tuberculin skin test upon hire as per WV Code §16-3D-3; and
Criminal history check of new applicants for licensure as per WV Code §18A-3-10.
Based on WV Code §18A-4-2b State minimum salaries for teachers; degree; and experience.
