Hold or be eligible for a valid West Virginia teaching certificate with proper endorsement in Reading required. Successful applicant must have demonstrated successful strategies utilizing whole group or small flexible group instruction; an understanding of the five components or reading and an in-depth knowledge of phonics, phonemic awareness and decoding skill; knowledge of scientifically-based Reading research Successful applicant must have demonstrated successful basic working knowledge of: strategies utilizing whole group or small flexible group instruction; an understanding of the five components of reading and an in-depth knowledge of phonics, phonemic awareness and decoding skills; knowledge of scientifically based reading research; core standards; test item analysis and interpretation; motivational techniques; classroom management; relevant reading strategies and parental involvement; computer skill which involve current software programs; test item analysis and interpretation; instructional strategies; motivations techniques; classroom management; parental involvement. Note: Beginning July 1, 2013 non Mercer County Professional applicants are to provide copies of his/her past evaluations and Specialized Training for the positions they are certified for when submitting Letters of Intent to the Personnel Office.
