Dear Mr. Brewster:

You have asked: If a supervisor or other professional employee fails to renew his or her administrative certificate yet is receiving extra pay for supervision, may the county board of education reduce the employee's administrative salary supplement? If so, by what procedure?

If a supervisor loses administrative certification, then his/her salary is automatically reduced and the employee becomes automatically listed for transfer to a non-administrative position. However, the superintendent still should list the employee for transfer and propose another assignment to the board. The transfer notice to the employee should give loss of administrative certification as the reason.
