The WVDE Office of Instruction has been working closely with the Buck Institute for Education in formulating a plan for developing project based learning classrooms across the state. The document you will find linked here may be useful to schools and administrators as they plan for implementation of Project Based Learning.
The schoolwide implementation of PBL should take approximately 3-5 years, and it is critical that we strategically plan for the success of the implementation through the establishment of short-term and long-term goals. As you will see when you open the link, this implementation plan requires us to think about system, instruction and community goals in terms of material and human resources and the measurement of progress as well as success. Everyone must understand the progression from quality standards-focused instruction to quality standards-focused project based learning design.
