The showcase setting will facilitate an audience of educators, policy makers, leaders, advocates, philanthropists, parents, family members and students.

2.      To support developing and emerging fine arts programs in West Virginia’s public schools.

3.      To inspire local initiatives to connect fine arts experiences for all pre-school and kindergarten through 12th grade students to 21st Century Learning Goals.

4.      To empower the greater WV learning community as stakeholders in an arts-based learning experience, development and celebration.

How the Artworks and Performing Arts Presentations Are Chosen

Artworks displayed at this event are chosen by judges established by the West Virginia Art Education Association.

The featured musical selections are based on recommendations made by judges of the West Virginia Music Educators Association Regional Solo and Ensemble Festivals for this school year, as well as other existing contests and adjudicated festivals throughout the state. Other music groups are included at the invitation of the Arts Alive Project Manager or the WVDE Coordinator for the Arts.

Featured theatrical selections are recommended by judges established by the West Virginia Thespians, at their annual state festival.

Featured dance selections are chosen by from recommendation from the members of the planning committee and scholarship winners at the West Virginia Dance Festival and the Governors' School for the Arts.

Final decisions about the program are the sole decision of the Arts Alive Planning Committee.
