The Barboursville School Olympics were held the week of February 15th, 2010. The launch event included a owerPoint
presentation of the flags representing the countries participating in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada. Patriotic (official Olympic) music played in the background following a motivational speech about patriotism presented by our principal, Mr. DesRochers.

There were a variety of class lessons throughout the week which included the History of the Olympics, facts about Vancouver, Canada, booklets about the Olympic U.S. competitors (past and current), Olympic events, Science technology in sports, how to make snow, facts about other countries, art projects (medals and world flags), up to date coverage of the Olympics, and Medal counts. The careers class produced a video and a newspaper to record the week’s events. The Culminating Activity on the final day, involved all students participating in the Barboursville School Olympic Winter Games. Events included actual Olympic Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal events.
