Winter Games come to Barbousville School
The Barboursville
School Olympics were
held the week of February
15th, 2010.
The launch event included
a owerPoint
presentation of the flags
representing the countries
participating in the 2010
Winter Olympic Games
in Vancouver, Canada.
Patriotic (official
Olympic) music played
in the background following
a motivational
speech about patriotism
presented by our principal,
Mr. DesRochers.
There were a variety of class lessons
throughout the week which included the History
of the Olympics, facts about Vancouver,
Canada, booklets about the Olympic U.S. competitors
(past and current), Olympic events,
Science technology in sports, how to make
snow, facts about other countries, art projects
(medals and world flags), up to date coverage
of the Olympics, and Medal counts. The careers
class produced a video and a newspaper
to record the week’s events.
The Culminating Activity on the final day,
involved all students participating in the Barboursville
School Olympic Winter Games.
Events included actual Olympic Gold, Silver,
and Bronze medal events. |
