WVIHY Presents Rachel's Challenge to Students and Staff

On October 3, 2008, Derek Kilgore visited the West Virginia Industrial Home for Youth to share Rachel’s Challenge with students and staff. It was one of the most inspiring assemblies ever held here. All students expressed positive feedback and spoke openly about the challenges that Rachel’s Challenge presented.

Rachel’s Challenge is based on the contents of Rachel Scott’s diaries and acts of kindness and compassion. Ms. Scott was killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. The assemblies have left us with a “want to” attitude to make positive change.

Also in attendance were students and staff from the Davis Center, staff from the Lorrie Yeager Juvenile Facility and staff from Northern Regional Juvenile Detention Center, Division of Juvenile Service Staff from Central Office and PsiMed.
