Teacher Chosen to Attend 2009 GASC/Printing Industries of America Conference
Joel Williamson, Graphic Communications Teacher at Mt. Olive Correctional Complex, has been selected to attend the 2009 GASC/Printing Industries of America Teacher’s Conference in Chicago, IL. Sept. 11 through Sept. 14. The program is sponsored in partnership by the Graphic Arts Show Company GASC) and the Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation (GAERF). Funding for lodging and registration is being provided, along with a $100 stipend.
During the conference, the Print and Graphic Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) is hosting an Educational Summit Meeting. The purpose of the Summit Meeting is to present current challenges and possible solutions for those issues that face the graphic arts industry in the areas of education and recruitment.
Joel will also be attending the Print 09 trade show, where printing industry professionals from around the world are expected to attend the year’s largest and most comprehensive global graphic communications exhibition. Joel teaches graphic communications at MOCC and offers PrintEd certification to those who complete his career and technical education component. He also teaches a number of college classes to provide 46 hours of college credit toward a printing technology degree from Bridgemont Community College at West Virginia University Institute of Technology.
It is quite an honor to have been selected, and Joel is eager to attend this conference and apply what he learns to his own classes at Mt. Olive. Congratulations Joel!
