The Mt. Olive Correctional Complex at Mt. Olive in Fayette County announced national accreditation for its printing technology program.

Kathryn Toler, Lead Teacher at Mt. Olive, said that the development of the program to this level has taken approximately eighteen months of preparation, curriculum delivery, and documentation. The accomplishment placed the facility’s graphic communications curriculum among only four in the state to hold GAERF credentials. The final audit for accreditation was held on April 27, 2007. The team was comprised of Gary Potter from WVUIT; Standley Green, Lead Teacher from Lakin Correctional Center; and Danny Glover, Evaluation Team Leader. Danny Glover guided the instructor, Duke Smith, throughout the process.

The audit was based on industry standards and graphic communications courses at secondary and post-secondary levels of study. The two instructional areas covered under the credentialing are Introduction to Graphic Communications and Press Operations.
